Undertake a Job Safety Analysis

This course provides students with knowledge of workplace risks and hazards, identification methodologies and the hazard management process. Students will obtain skills required to carry out Job Safety Analysis of new or existing tasks.

Certification

A Job Safety Analysis certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course.

Course Content

The course focuses on:

  • legislation.
  • risk and hazard management.
  • job safety analysis (JSA) and work method statements (WMS)
  • standing operating procedures (SOPs)

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • For a specified job, prepare a work method statement.
  • Undertake a job safety analysis.

Course structure

The course is theoretical. Students are assessed continuously during the course.

Course prerequisites

None.

Assessment process

Theory assessment which takes place when the student is ready. This include completion of a JSA based on several scenarios provided.

Revalidation/Refresher

To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.

  • Photo ID.
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for participating in practical exercises.
  • Appropriate streetwear can be worn.
