Safety Observer – Online

This online course provides students with an understanding of the work, activities and hazardous environments requiring a Safety Observer to control, monitor and maintain safety. 

This includes Safety Observer responsibilities and duties covering hot work, confined space, excavations, and working at height activities as well as emergency response measures. 

Certification

After successful completion of the online course you will be issued with an electronic badge. Before we can issue you with a formal Safety Observer Certificate, you will need to contact Wood Training with proof of identity.

The course focuses on:

  • Health and safety legislation.
  • Work requiring a safety observer.
  • Duties of a safety observer.
  • Work environment conditions.
  • Communication methods.
  • Emergency and rescue plans.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify criteria under work permit procedures where the safety observer is required to control, monitor and maintain safety for activity.
  • Identify hazardous environments and activities requiring safety observer control.
  • Identify safety observer responsibilities.
  • Identify emergency response measures.

This course is an online course.

Assessment process

It consists of online learning modules that you work through at your own pace. At the very end of the course there are summative assessment tasks.

Revalidation/Refresher

To maintain current competency, it is recommended that refresher training occurs regularly. Depending on the industry you work in this may vary. Current Wood Training recommendation is every two years.
